Adolph Plagens

May 17, 1925 - September 7, 2013

Adolph Plagens, one of nine children, was born May 17, 1925 in Kurten, Texas to Adolf and Lily (Van Hood) Plagens. He was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Navy.

On July 16, 1947 he and Doris Reichardt were married in Houston. They raised two sons. He was a heavy equipment operator. The Plagens moved to Tanglewood in 1978. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He loved cattle ranching and dancing.

Adolph passed away Saturday, September 7, 2013 in the Brazos Valley Hospital in Bryan. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Harry, Ralph, Fred and Curtis Plagens and a sister, Alma Veazey.

Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Doris Plagens of Tanglewood; two sons, Mark Plagens and wife Pamela of Houston and Larry Plagens of Tanglewood; his brother, Raymond Plagens of Kurten; two sisters, Evelyn Williams of Round Top and Irene Gozney of Trinity; two grandchildren, Laurel Plagens and Catherine Plagens, both of Houston.

Funeral services for Adolph Plagens, 88 will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home Chapel in Rockdale, with Dr. Gregory Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in the Hugh Wilson Cemetery at Tanglewood with Military Honors. Visitation is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 13, 2013 at the funeral home.
