Early Act/First Knight

The Giddings Elementary School and the Rotary Club of Giddings are proud to announce that Early Act/First Knight (EAFK) is coming to Giddings Elementary during the 2013-2014 school year. EAFK is a year-round character and service education program that rewards high ethical standards and an ethos of “service above self.” Through EAFK, the pursuit of excellent personal character, social skills and service orientation rejoins academic achievement as the measure of a well-rounded education.

The centerpiece of EAFK is “The Code.” The Code teaches daily, age appropriate lessons on ethics, life skills, and service to others. Daily lesson plans will start on the first day of school and continue throughout the year. On September 12, 2013 at 1:15 p.m., the Tournament of Champions will be held at the Elementary Campus. The Tournament is a spectacular outdoor event complete with armored knights and live warhorses. During the event, the students will be introduced to EAFK, the Four-Way test and all of the exciting events that will occur over the school year. Every six weeks, students demonstrating the noble virtues and service under The Code will be selected to receive a knightly medallion and earn a regal title (knight, squire, page, etc.).

We would like to invite and encourage you to come to the Tournament of Champions on September 12 and see exactly what the program is all about.Your little one will be talking about Early Act/First Knight and the Four-Way Test throughout the year and we would love for you as parents to be a part of this program and make it a success at Giddings Elementary School.

The Four-Way Test of the
Things We Say & Do:
1. Is it the truth?
2. Is it fair to all
3. Will it build goodwill
and better friendships?
4. Will it be beneficial to
all concerned?
