DPS and Texas Ranger Museum Prepare for Bicentennial
The Texas Rangers, America’s oldest state law enforcement agency, are preparing for their landmark 200th anniversary.
Today’s elite 150 Rangers trace their founding to 1823. The first Rangers were scouts protecting settlements on a hostile frontier.
In preparation for a Nationally significant event, the Texas Public Safety Commission appointed the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum in Waco as their representative and steward for the Bicentennial.™ Established as the official historical center of the Rangers in 1964, it includes: a museum, Texas Ranger company headquarters, State Hall of Fame, library and archives, educational center serving nonprofits and banquet facility.
The Commission endorsed efforts to renovate and expand the exhibits of the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame in order to leave a Bicentennial legacy by supporting museum efforts to further preserve the Texas Ranger heritage for future generations.
