Party Marks the End of the 40 Acre Wood Summer Reading Program

Space-hats off to the over 100 reader-nauts of 40 Acre

Wood’s 2013 summer reading club, “Lift-Off to Read”. Those who completed their mission of reading 18 books or over 54 hours this summer celebrated at an end of the summer party, held at the Woodson Community Center. Participants reached their group goal of reading more than 650 hours! Dave Toback, A & M University Professor of Physics and Astronomy, engaged everyone in an enlightening question and answer session. Pizza

Pro, Fourth Street Bakery, Hildebrandt Meat Market and the 77 Diner generously donated incentives to keep our young readers reading! Here are a few pictures of some of the participants. The picture at the far right (top) is the winner of the Grand Door Prize handed out at the party.

She is Rachel Frick.
