Lady Eagles Open VB Season

by Mike Organ

The Lady Eagles volleyball team opens their season in Austin at Brentwood Christian, Tuesday at 3:00 pm. The Lady Eagles will be a young team this season, as they return four players that contributed on a regular basis last season. With new coach Mel Salazar directing returnees Meghann Wrinkle, Madison Bexley, Kristin Boettcher, and Karsen Ross, along with new comers, the Lady Eagles will go through a learning process.

The Lady Eagles scrimmaged Friday at Franklin, and Saturday at Navasota, to get ready for the opening games of the season. Of the Friday scrimmage, Coach Salazar said, “I felt we did pretty well for a young team. We played very well against Franklin, Teague, Milano, and a couple of others. Saturday was a different story. We were missing several players who had previous commitments, and were going against quality teams like Navasota and Iola.”

Assisting Coach Salazar with the Lady Eagles are Kevin Patschke and Jeremy Donalson.
