Superintendent’s Corner

Frances M. McArthur, PhD., Superintendent of Schools, Lexington ISD

It is great hearing the excitement in our school corridors as teachers and staff members prepare for the coming school year. Our band students fill the air with their beautiful music early in the morning as staff work purposefully on having schools bright and shiny for the much anticipated first day of school on Monday, August 26th.

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) released the 2013 Accountability Ratings this week. Each district and campus within Texas was awarded with one of two eligible ratings for the 2013 State Accountability. A rating of “Met Standard” or “Improvement Required” was awarded to each district and campus by determining if the points within each Index Target met or exceeded the minimum standard as set by the state. The district rating for Lexington ISD is Met Standard and the rating for each campus within Lexington ISD is Met Standard. We are extremely proud of our students and staff on the overall performance of this initial assessment. We thank everyone for their hard work and commitment. This assessment gives us a baseline for continued improvement toward our goals for providing a 21st century education.

I look forward to seeing community members and parents at the many back to school activities scheduled for the coming weeks.
