Joy Edna Tomanetz

November 9, 1927 - August 8, 2013

Mrs. Tomanetz passed away unexpectedly the morning of Thursday, August 8, 2013 at St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange.

Joy Edna (Wolf) Tomanetz was born on November 9, 1927 in Fedor, Texas to Fritz & Inez (Johnson) Wolf. After her father’s death when she was three, Joy was raised by her uncle and aunt, Randolph “Ran” & Addie “Patty” Mathis. She was united in marriage to Arthur Albert Tomanetz on April 20, 1946 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings. Joy was a loving and devoted homemaker, mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking and playing cards and bingo. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Paige.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fritz Wolf and Inez Johnson Wolf Bell; her husband of 65 years, Arthur; her daughter, Alyece Brady; three sisters and two brothers.

Joy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Arthur “Buster” & Cheryl Tomanetz of Paige; her son-in-law, Pete Brady of Dripping Springs; four grandchildren, Dawn Morris, Patrick Brady, Randall Tomanetz and Heather Tomanetz; six great grandchildren; brothersin law and sisters-in-law, Edward “White” & Tootsie Tomanetz of Giddings and Ewald & Doris Albers of Athens.

Funeral services were August 10, 2013 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings, Texas with Rev. Alvin Epperson officiating. Burial followed in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Paige.

Serving as pallbearers will be Darrell Kunkel, Robert Buscha, Christopher Alvine, Joseph Brady, Matthew Brady and Dale Tomanetz. Honorary pallbearers will be E.A. Arldt, Alton Voight, Cornell Kunkel and Edward Tomanetz.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
