Naomi J. Sauls

December 30, 1933 - August 5, 2013

Naomi J. Sauls was born on December 30, 1933 in Doak Springs, Texas to Moulton Jackson Jr. & Lovie (Nelson) Jackson. She graduated from Prairie View A&M University and was a retired dietitian with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. She spent many hours volunteering with the Los Angeles Independent School District. Naomi also enjoyed cooking, horse races and attending church events.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Presley Sauls Jr. and a brother, Henry D. Jackson.

Naomi is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Orphetta & Clifford Lett of Austin; her two sons, Henry D. Sauls of Doak Springs and Theophilus Sauls of California; five grandchildren, Robert J. Davis & his wife, Esther of Del Rio, Franchelle Davis of Austin, Moulshae Tuff of Austin, J.T. of Austin and Roy Smith & his wife, Cherica of Texas City; five great grandchildren; her two brothers, E.B. Jackson & his wife, Erma of San Antonio and Curtis Jackson of Houston; her two sisters, Beulah Tillman of San Antonio and Ruthie Walden of California, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Funeral services for Naomi Sauls, 79, of Doak Springs are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 9, 2013 at Morning Star Baptist Church in Doak Springs with Rev. Richard Washington officiating. Burial will follow in the Copperas Cemetery in Doak Springs. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The family will be present for visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the charity of one's choice.
