Derek Dane Selected to Pre Season All American Team
After Lexington’s Derek Dane returned home from Arizona where he played as a member of the Baseball Factory Under Armour baseball team in the USA 17U Nationals, he received a call from Maryland informing him that he has been selected as a Pre-Season All American. That means he will be heading back to Arizona in January 2014 to play with and against other Pre-Season All Americans for the opportunity to play at Wrigley Field in the All American game, which will be televised on the MLB channel.
The 2013 Under Armour Pre- Season All-Americans are selected based on a strong performance at a previous Baseball Factory Event, such as the National Championship Derek played in.
The 2014 Under Armour All- America Pre-Season Tournament will feature the top high school players in a 20-team wood bat tournament. Pro scouts representing 23 of the 30 Major League Baseball teams attended the event in the past two years and a similar turnout in 2014 is expected.
Derek will be a Senior at Lexington High School this year and will be the starting catcher for the Eagles. This will be his fourth year as a starter for the Eagle Baseball team.
He is the son of Wade and Jennifer Dane of Dime Box.
