Drowning Death of Giddings Man
A 24 year old man from Giddings, Jeremy Lee Gilmore, drowned in a pond near Lake Vermillion in Canistota, South Dakota on Thursday, July 18. According to the Daily Republic in Mitchell, South Dakota, McCook County Emergency Management Director Brad Stiefvater said that Gilmore had been working with a professional dog trainer in the area.
“Gilmore was working with a dog in a small boat on the pond when he fell into the water Thursday and was unable to get back into the boat,” said Stiefvater.
McCook County Sheriff ’s Department Chief Deputy Matt Bormann says officers continue to investigate the incident, which is being treated as an accident.
Jeremy graduated from Giddings High School in 2007. He was employed by a professional dog trainer and had a deep compassion for the dogs he trained and the work that he did. He loved the companionship of his loyal dog, Rocky, who was always by his side.
