The Lexington ISD Board of Trustees held their regular meeting on July 15th, with Dr. Mark Strain, Board President, presiding. Also present at the meeting were Chad Garrett, Riza Cooper, David Boettcher, and Doug Havard.
Two people addressed the board during the public comment session to express their concerns that the LISD police department may be deactivated.
Minutes of the regular meeting of June 17 and the called meeting of June 27 were approved, along with the board financial report and the quarterly investment report.
The revisions addressed in TASB Update 97 were reviewed and, since this was a first reading only, action will be taken during the regular meeting in August.
After meeting in closed session to discuss personnel, and to deliberate regarding security matters and related personnel issues, the board employed Bradford Aduddell and Traci Ricketson as teachers for the 2013-2014 school year, and tabled action on the security matters and related personnel issues.
The district contribution to employee health insurance was reviewed as per board policy, as part of the budget development and adoption process, board agendas for August and upcoming meetings were reviewed, and Dr. McArthur reported on the progress of ongoing summer projects, the middle school library construction project, and repair of the visitors’ bleachers.
