Lost Pines Groundwater Conservation District to Discuss Legal Ramifications of Permit Requests
Lost Pines Groundwater Conservation District will go into a closed executive session Wednesday, July 17, at their 7 p.m. meeting, to consult with their attorneys about the applications of Forestar Real Estate Group, Inc. for Operating Permits and Transfer Permits for ten wells in Lee County, seeking authorization to withdraw an aggregate of 45,000 acre-feet per year from the Simsboro Aquifer, and about the applications of Aqua Water Supply Corporation for Reservation Permits for five wells in Bastrop County seeking authorization to withdraw a total of 5,000 acre-feet per year from the same aquifer.
The District’s agenda for the meeting, which will be held at the Bastrop City Hall located at 1311 Chestnut Street, also states that the Board will consider and may take action on the adoption of findings of fact and conclusions of law regarding the decision of the Board on the applications of Forestar and Aqua.
During the meeting, the District will also hold a Public Hearing on proposed amendments to District Rules 14.3 and 14.5. The District proposes to amend Rule 14.3 to clarify the procedures for hearings on applications for Operating Permits and Transport Permits and applications to amend those permits. The District further proposes to amend Rule 14.5 to clarify the procedures for hearings on any application other than applications governed by Rule 14.3 or applications for variances or extension of time, which are governed by Rule 14.7.
