Sports Thoughts

by Mike Organ

Coach Muhl has only one spot to fill with the hiring of Jeff Rogers, Kevin Patschke, and Jenner Jones. It is nice to see products of the program coming back to keep some consistency.

The Austin American is beginning to say things are not hunky-dorry in the UT athletic department. It seems that Cliff Barnes, Coach Mack, and Augie Garrido are in no way on solid ground if their teams don’t show significant improvement this school year.

The Lee County 12-year old All- Stars are doing a great job in the playoffs. If they can beat Washington County twice Monday and Tuesday, they can advance to the second round of the playoffs. That is something that hasn’t been done since the softball girls went to the world championships.

The Eagles are marching along without missing too many beats in the coaching change. Lexington has already suffered losses due to families moving, medical problems, or injury not associated with athletics. I understand one of them was a social injury.

Thanks to everyone for the calls and electronic messages concerning my surgery. Please say a prayer for my wife as she cares for me. I am not a very good patient.

Also, say a prayer for Dalton Harbers, former band director, history teacher, German teacher, and all around good guy, who is recovering from heart surgery.
