Derek Dane can be seen at the left as he bolts to make a fast throw to first for the out. Derek has been playing select ball for almost ten years and plays for the Lexington Eagles. Derek Dane, student athlete at Lexington High School, was invited to play with Under Armour at the USA 17U National Championships in Phoenix, Arizona, June 21, 2013 to June 28, 2013, where hundreds of colleges come to scout players from all over the nation. All games were held at the Cincinnati Reds, San Diego Padres and Cleveland Indians Spring training facilities.

Derek’s team is made up of players from Texas, Florida, Virginia, Alabama, Arizona, California, Washington, and Colorado.

Their coaching staff has coached all aspects of the game at the professional level, so not only did they get to compete with and against some of the best, they were taught the game by some of the best.

When they were not playing, they were training in all areas of the game, watching videos of their performance at night and then used what they learned during play the next day, in 105 to 118 degree temperatures!

Derek returned home late last Friday night to catch up with his local team, the Brazos Valley Renegades, Saturday morning.
