Evelyn Elvira Steglich


Funeral services for Evelyn Steglich, 87, of Giddings, Texas are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings, Texas with Rev. Keith Aschenbeck officiating. Burial will follow in the Giddings City Cemetery.

Mrs. Steglich passed away the morning of Saturday, June 22, 2013, at the Bastrop Lost Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bastrop, Texas.

Evelyn Elvira (Wolf) Steglich was born on August 21, 1925 in Greens Creek, Texas to Henry and Hattie (Schneider) Wolf. She was baptized by Rev. G.W. Fischer on September 20, 1925 in Greens Creek and confirmed by Rev. Paul Eifert on April 16, 1939. Her confirmation verse was John 5:24, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life". She was united in marriage to Edward Marvin Steglich on January 30, 1965 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings, Texas by Rev. Arthur Arndt. Evelyn was a highly successful entrepreneur who owned Evelyn's Flower Shop in Giddings for over 25 years. She also enjoyed ranching, gardening, taking care of animals, talking to her friends daily and dancing.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Hattie Wolf; her husband, Edward Steglich; nephew, Wyatt Trigg and her brother-in-law, Royce Namken, Sr.

She is survived by her sister, Mildred Namken of Bastrop; niece, Patsy and Wes Trigg of Bastrop; nephew, Royce "Wally" and Janet Namken of Bastrop; great nephews, Rhett Trigg, Jarrett Namken and Jake Namken all of Bastrop; two sisters-in-law, Helen and Glen Whitley of Smithville, and Laverne Nitsche Falke of Giddings, as well as other numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
