Texas Football’s Predictions

by Mike Organ

The Lexington Eagles are picked as the #9 team in the state in 2A Division II, but picked to finish second in District 14-2A-II. Despite the Eagles high state ranking, the Rogers Eagles are picked #5 and picked to finish first in district play. The always tough Blanco Panthers are picked third, but could finish much higher if they can contain the Rogers and Lexington offenses. Traditionrich

Schulenburg is selected fourth, but will return with plenty of experience. Randolph could be a dark horse, coming on strong late in the season in 2012.

Rogers has six offensive and eight defensive starters returning. A couple of those returnees don’t remember the 2012 game, due to the hard hits dished out by Lexington. Plenty of Rogers’ returning lettermen are of excellent quality. Their top two rushers, Carson Skala and Brody Malovets, return to carry the ball in the winged-T offense.

The Giddings Buffs are picked to finish out of the playoff contention, with a fifth place finish. The placing is due to their meltdown last season, after starting the season 6-0, and then finishing 6-4. LaGrange, Giddings’ longtime rival, is picked to finish first in the district race.
