Sports Thoughts

by Mike Organ

The Eagles are ranked extremely high again this year. They are ranked #9 in the state but not picked to win their district, again. Don’t the folks at Texas Football learn after making the same mistake several times lately?

In talking to Coach Muhl, I understand Jeff Rogers will be returning to the Eagle Nation as the offensive coordinator. They could not find a job for his wife, but she found one in Elgin, thank goodness.

The Heat did win the NBA crown in seven games, not like the six I had predicted. It seems the officials are afraid to make the ‘superstars’ abide by the rules of the game. The NBA is more interested in selling tickets and getting TV revenue than they are the game of basketball.

The NFL has another highprofile problem with the Patriots tight end, Aaron Hernandez. This is a murder case where some evidence has been tampered with. Most of the high dollar athletes think they are above the law.

The Astros are playing really well right now. The Rangers are in an offensive funk and with an injured pitching staff. The Astros are making waves, despite their inexperience and low salaries. The Rangers are slowly getting their team back together.

Giddings is suffering from last season’s collapse. They may have their act together and return to the Buffs of old. Another bad year could cause some big changes.
