Johnnie M. Holton
Johnnie M. Holton was born April 2, 1926 in the Day Community of Anderson County, one of six children born to Grady Patrick and Allie Mae (Parker) Bridges. On October 14, 1958, she married Virgil R. Holton in Wharton. Johnnie worked as a nurse’s aide in nursing homes in Sweeny and Bay City, a checker for several businesses and was a homemaker. Johnnie has lived in Lexington since 1989, having moved from Sweeny. She was a member of the Church of Christ and Johnnie loved hunting, fishing, cooking and sewing.
Johnnie passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 5, 2013 in the Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ben, Allie and Guy Bridges; two sisters, Cleola Searcy and Bernice Deal; two granddaughters, Samantha DeLange and Olivia Gonzalez.
Surviving: her husband of 54 years, Virgil R. Holton of Lexington; Son, Kenneth Wayne Brown of Lake Jackson; Daughter, Sheila Jean Johnson and husband Clyde of Lexington; Six grandchildren, nine greatgrandchildren and two great-greatgrandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were; Johnny West, Brandon Johnson, Kyler DeLange, Steve White, James Apple, Brad Brown, Chris Brown.
Services for Johnnie M. Holton, 87 of Lexington were 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2013 in the Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the Hugh Wilson Cemetery in Tanglewood. Dr. Gregory Nichols officiated.
