Just a Thought.......

Rev. DaveFischer Rev. DaveFischer O, Lexington, my Lexington, do you have any idea what a treasure you have?

You would if you lived in a noisy crowded city as I do most of the week.

You would if you stepped onto your back patio only to see the dark, gray wall of the neighbor’s house.

You would if you spent day-after-day wondering and worrying about the people you see on the street, having no idea who they are, or what they might do.

You would if you had to spend hours in bumper-to-bumper traffic waiting for someone, anyone, to give you a break.

You would if your newspaper brought you daily news of child abuse, shootings and domestic violence.

You would if you had to “step aside” as I do and live in another world for a while.

Then, you might be tempted, as I sometimes am, to come back to Lexington and kiss the ground and hug your friends and neighbors and thank God for a blessing which not many will ever get to enjoy.

O, Lexington, my Lexington, do not take it for granted.

And please, do not ever dump your trash or dig truck tracks in someone else’s fields. You are destroying more than you know.

Rev. David Fischer is the Pastor at First Christian Church in Lexington
