Bluebonnet Scam Spreading

People falsely claiming to be Bluebonnet Electric Coop employees or contractors have widened the area in which they are targeting members, attempting to trick consumers with supposedly delinquent accounts into making payments to them with prepaid money cards. They generally ask the Bluebonnet customer to pay using MoneyPak pre-paid cards that can be bought at Wal-Mart, Walgreens and CVS Pharmacy. The callers are now calling from a 512 area code, to further confuse consumers. If you receive a phone call from anyone trying to get you to make a payment for a past-due electric bill, call Bluebonnet Electric or the Sheriff’s Department immediately.
