Giddings Library News Corner

By Judy Belyeu

Stop by the Giddings Public Library and check out some of our new books.

These new books are in large print. Creole Belle by James Lee Burke is a Dave Robicheaux novel. Dave is fighting an enemy more insidious than the one who put a bullet in his back. Morphine is playing tricks on his mind and luring him back into the addict mentality that once threatened to destroy him.

Afraid to Die by Lisa Jackson takes place in Grizzly Falls. The town is still on edge after being terrorized by a serial killer last year. Christmastime is approaching and everyone is trying to relax and enjoy the holiday. They will get no rest because a new nightmare is about to unfold. A woman is found frozen solid and deliberately displayed like a sinister ice sculpture.

The House of Velvet and Glass by Katherine Howe is about Sibyl Allston. She is reeling from the deaths of her mother and sister on the Titanic. She is living a life of quiet desperation with her taciturn father and scandal-plagued brother in Boston’s Back Bay. She and professor Benton Derby realize that there may be something even more magical between them than a medium’s spying glass.

Let Love Find You by Johanna Lindsey is about a renowned horse breeder named Devin Baldwin. He pairs eligible young ladies with suitable gentlemen based on his theory of animal magnetism.

The Violinist’s Thumb by Sam Kean is about DNA mapping and modification. Did the human race go extinct? Can genetics explain a cat lady’s love for felines? How does DNA lead to people with no fingerprints or humans born with tails?

Several other new large type books for your reading pleasure are: Summerland by Elin Hilderbrand; Love’s Unending Legacy by Janette Oke; Next To Love by Ellen Feldman; The Other Woman’s House by Sophie Hannah and Prague Fatale by Phillip Kerr.
