Seven on Seven

Le’Chea Cooper Le’Chea Cooper Lexington held the first State Qualifying Seven on Seven meet on Saturday at Eagle Stadium. In the first bracket were College Station, Wimberley, Thrall and Lexington. The second bracket consisted of Rockdale, Cameron, Navasota and La Grange. Lexington placed second in their bracket to Wimberley and Cameron was first over Navasota in the other bracket. In the State qualifying games, Cameron defeated Lexington and Navasota triumphed over Wimberley, allowing both teams to qualify for the state meet to be held in July in College Station.

The Lexington team, coached by Mr. Chad Garrett, played well, defeating both Thrall and College Station, but falling to Wimberley. The Eagles young starting defensive team consisted of 3 eighth graders, 1 freshman, 1 sophomore and 2 juniors. The Eagles will travel to Navasota next Saturday to participate in another State Qualifying Meet.
