Giddings Library News Corner

By Judy Belyeu

The Giddings Public Library has a very good selection of CTL books for our patrons.

Laughing in the Thunder by Amanda Harte introduces Martha Wentworth York. She has lost her husband in the war, and her brothers and sisters have gone to France as part of the war effort. Renowned photographer Tom Fleming comes to town and wants to photograph Martha because she is picture perfect. She refuses to be photographed and finds an attraction to him that she doesn’t want to admit.

When Passion Rules by Johanna Lindsey takes place during the time of Napoleon’s rule. Forced to flee Napoleon’s army, orphaned Alana Farmer and her guardian make a home for themselves in London where they live a privileged life. Alana learns she is really the lost princess of Lubinia. She encounters Christop Becker, the captain of palace guards as he arrests her as an imposter. He uses every means at his disposal to draw the truth from her, even if he must lay his life on the line to protect her.

Trace of Fever by Lori Foster is about an undercover mercenary named Trace Rivers. He plans to earn the trust of corrupt businessman Murray Coburn and gather proof to shut down the man’s dirty smuggling operation. Priscilla Patterson, who is Coburn’s long lost daughter, joins forces with Trace. One lingering embrace and it will expose them to the wrath of Murray Coburn.

Storm Cycle by Iris Johansen and Roy Johansen is about a computer genius named Rachel Kirby. Her personal life is full of turmoil. Her beloved sister is plagued by a chronic illness that will eventually kill her, leaving Rachel alone. Serendipity in the form of a mysterious e-mail lands in Rachel’s lap one day, but not without a price.

The Body in the Snowdrift by Katherine Hall Page is about a murder that brings a chill to Faith Fairchild’s family reunion. All is going smoothly until Faith stumbles upon the body of a local lawyer. To save the Pine Slopes resort and her family’s reunion, Faith must dig through an avalanche of clues that could bury her as well.

Listed below are some of the other CTL books that we have on loan: The Devil’s Company by David Liss; Listen by Rene Guitteridge; Reckless Seduction by Gwynne Forster; Disappearances by Howard Frank Mosher and Catch Me When I Fall by Nicci French.
