Bernice Lorene Saegert

November 6, 1924 - April 18, 2013

Funeral services for Bernice Saegert, 88 of Lexington, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Jeremy Walloch officiating. Burial followed in the St. Peter's Cemetery in Lincoln.

Mrs. Saegert passed away the morning of Thursday, April 18, 2013 at St. Mark's Medical Center in La Grange.

Bernice Lorene (Reuther) Saegert was born on November 6, 1924 in Lincoln, Texas to William "Willie" & Augusta (Pratho) Reuther. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Lincoln. Her confirmation verse was Luke 10:42 "But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her". Bernice was united in marriage to Edmund A. Saegert on April 8, 1945 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Lincoln by Rev. William Mueller. She was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church and enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning, fishing and will be remembered for her noodle making.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, Edmund Saegert; eight sisters and five brothers.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James & Cindy Saegert of Rockdale; her daughter and son-in-law, Janice Ann (Saegert) & Jody Chesson of Beaumont; four granddaughters, Stephanie Chesson of College Station, Kristin Kaspar & her husband, Aaron of Lake Jackson, Elizabeth Saegert of Lexington and Erica Saegert of Lexington; two sisters-in-law, Gladys Saegert of Round Rock and Alice Pratho of Houston, as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Serving as pallbearers were Gary Gloyna, Larry Lehman, Aaron Kaspar, Dan Saegert, Kenneth Patschke and Charles Brockenbush, Jr.
