Seven Sentenced in District Court

Seven people were sentenced in District Court on Thursday, April 11, the Honorable Carson Campbell presiding.

Michael Quinn Gentry was given two consecutive five year terms in the TDCJ, one for theft, $1,500 to $20,000 against an elderly individual and another for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing bodily injury. He was ordered to pay a total of $776 in court costs and fees.

Martrias Strickland, 18 of the Giddings State School, and James Shannon, 18 of the Giddings State School, were sentenced to two years confinement each in the TDJC for indecency with a child – exposure, and ordered to pay a total of $388 each in court costs and fees.

Latoya Fay Daniels, 29 of Giddings, had her probation revoked and was sentenced to two ten month terms in the TDCJ for two counts of fraudulent use or possession of identifying information, less than five items. She was ordered to pay $674 in restitution plus $388 in court costs and fees.

Cody Joshua Viveiros, 29 of Dime Box, was given five years probation for possession of a controlled substance – Dihydrocodeinone, 28-200 grams. He was ordered to pay a total of $5,588 in fines, court costs and fees, as well as ordered to perform 400 hours of community service restitution.

Amanda Marie Christianson, 24 of Giddings, was given three years probation for possession of a controlled substance – Methamphetamine, less than one gram. She was ordered to pay a total of $1,988 in fines, court costs and fees, and ordered to perform 100 hours of community service restitution.

Devon Gilbert Kalbas, 29 of Giddings, was given 18 months probation for theft - $500 to $1,500. He was also ordered to pay a total of $1,888 in fines, court costs and fees. Kalbas was instructed to perform 100 hours of community service restitution.
