Commissioners Approve Resolution Supporting LPGCD

On Monday, Lee County Commissioners approved a Resolution in Support of the Lost Pines Groundwater Conservation District’s Management Plan. The resolution states that the commissioners share the LPGCD’s belief that prudent planning for groundwater is based upon sound science and that sound groundwater management practices must be utilized in order to maintain the availability of water for future generations and assure sustainability of the aquifer; and the court shares LPGCD’s concerns about groundwater being transported out of the Lost Pines District to the detriment of current water well users and jeopardizing future groundwater quality and quantity.

Therefore, the court encourages, in their resolution, LPGCD to adhere to and comply with the District’s Management Plan and take every precaution to protect and conserve our precious groundwater resource.
