Fedor VFD 30th Anniversary
Before their quarterly meeting, which was held on Monday, April 8, members of the Fedor Volunteer Fire Department celebrated their 30th Anniversary. Charter members were invited and encouraged to attend.
The celebration began with fellowship and prayer of thanksgiving and blessings. A boneless pork chop dinner, prepared by Mary and Fritz Kieschnick, along with peach cobbler provided by Fay Iselt’s It’s All Good Restaurant in Giddings, were served to the hungry and enthusiastic crowd.
The program began by remembering the seven deceased members of the original department. It continued with recognizing all the living first-year members. The celebration continued when part of the very first minutes of their first meeting were read and the first officers and chiefs were also recognized.
T.G. Moerbe was recognized for the gift of property for the fire station. Ninety-four-year-old Charter member, Herbert Dube, was present for the evening’s events.
Also recognized included the first president, Clarence Schimank, married to Jane; first secretary Gary Dube, married to Kathy; Jerry Falke, married to Pauline; Ronnie Handrick, married to Debbie; Gloria Pillack; Martin Schubert, married to Julie; Leonard Schulz, married to Taronda; and Charles Winkler., married to Debbie.
The evening continued with reminiscing, pictures,the regular scheduled meeting and election of officers. Charles Winkler was reelected as president after having completed 26 of the past 30 years as President.
