Lexington scored 10 runs in the third inning to take a 12-1 lead, and then held on as Florence rallied to close to 12-8, before The Lady Eagles turned on the bats again, scoring six more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Lexington’s first run came from the bat of Kristen Boettcher. Boettcher hit a home run with two out in the first, and then another four-bagger, leading off the monstrous third inning.

In between the homers, Mariah Thornton singled and scored on Bailey Reynolds’ sacrifice bunt in the second inning. After the second homer, Courtney Robertson doubled, Meghann Wrinkle bunted, Tayllor Lagrone doubled, Madison Bexley singled, Mariah Thornton singled, and Melanie Scantlin singled. Mackenzie Brown laid down a bunt single, Robertson got her second double of the inning, and Wrinkle ended the scoring, as she blasted a three-run homer over the left field fence.

Florence staged a comeback attempt in the fourth, scoring three runs in the fourth, three in the fifth, and one in the sixth, before Lexington went back to scoreboard loading.

Robertson led off with a single, scoring on Bexley’s fielder’s choice. Thornton followed with a single and Scantlin a double. Reynolds walked, Brown reached on a bunt single, Boettcher got another RBI, with a fielder’s choice, before the final out was called at third base.
