Lexington avenged an earlier defeat by Florence, with an 11-6 win Friday night. Lexington scored early, and then had a big six-run fourth inning, to put the game into the comfort zone.

The first two Eagle runs came as a gift. Walks to Chase Hibbeler and Jason Washington put runners on first and second. The Florence pitcher tried to pick Washington off first base, but the throw went into right field. Hibbeler chugged home from second base, and Washington blazed all the way home from first on the overthrow.

Lexington put two more on the score board in the third inning. Kogan Garrett led off with a double. Garrett scored on W.E. Meuth’s grounder to short, that was booted. W.E. scored when Washington hit a screaming shot off the shortstop’s glove for a double.

Then came Lexington’s big fourth inning. Corey Strain reached on an error by the Buff shortstop, with one out. Garrett singled, Logan Meuth walked, Chase Hibbeler struck out, but reached first when the ball went to the screen, as Garrett scored and Meuth moved to third. Hibbeler stole second on a delayed steal, which allowed Meuth to score on the throw to second. Washington walked, to put runners on first and second. Derek Dane greeted the Florence reliever with a triple, driving in two more runs. Dane scored on a wild pitch to Noble Little.

The final Lexington run came in the sixth inning. Hibbeler led off with a double. He moved to third on Jason Washington’s single, and scored on a wild pitch to Dane.

Garrett pitched the entire game, giving up seven hits, striking out three, and walking four.
