Lexington Homecoming & Go-Texan Cook-Off

The 48th Annual Lexington Homecoming Cook-Off will be held on May 3-4, 2013. The Lee County Go Texan BBQ competition will again be held in conjunction with the Homecoming Cook-Off.

Any county team wishing to compete for the Go Texan title must register at the cook-off by 10:00 a.m. on May 4th. The team’s Chief Cook must be a resident of Lee County and must provide a valid photo ID with proof of residency in order to sign up. There are no additional fees required to compete for the Go Texan title.

The highest scoring county team in the three meat categories (chicken, ribs and brisket) will be crowned 2013 Lee County Go Texan BBQ Champion and wins the right to represent the county at the 2014 Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo’s World Championship BBQ Cook-Off. The Houston cook-off is usually held the last week in February of every year. Lee County is one of 62 Go Texan counties in Texas that regularly competes at the Houston Rodeo cook-off and has placed or won in past competitions against up to approximately 500 cook-off teams.

The deadline to submit your entry is April 27th. There will be an additional $10 fee added if received after the deadline.
