Sietel Discusses Seismic Testing
At the Lexington City Council Meeting on Wednesday, April 10, representatives from Sietel, Inc. told the Council about their plans to use seismic testing within the city in coming months. They displayed a map showing the area that they plan to explore. Testing will begin near Giddings and move north to Lexington and Tanglewood.
Sietel will make their data available to the oil and gas industry for use with future drilling.
They told the Council that the seismic activity will be done with wireless receivers and assured the Council that they would do all that is necessary to protect the City’s aging infrastructure, such as water and sewer lines, from any damage.
After questioning by the Council, primarily concerning the City’s property and facilities, the Council decided that there was no objection to Sietel’s proceeding with the planned activity.
