Reverend David L. Fischer Installed as FCC Minister
During the Sunday morning worship service on April 14, Rev. David Fischer, formerly interim minister of the First Christian Church of Lexington, was installed as minister of the congregation. Officiating guest minister was Rev. Dani Loving-Cartwright, Regional Minister of the Christian Church ( Disciples of Christ) in the Southwest. During the installation service Rev. Fischer reaffirmed his ordination vows and promised faithfully to fulfill his ministry among the congregation through preaching and teaching the word of God; administering the sacraments of the church; ministering to those who are sick and the troubled, sharing in leadership to strengthen the church’s life, and representing in a worthy manner what it means to live in faithful response to God’s abiding grace.
Likewise, the congregation of FCC pledged to uphold the pastor with their prayers, to share his joys and sorrows, to attend to his preaching and teaching of God’s word, to welcome his pastoral care, and to honor his leadership.
Rev. Cartwright also delivered the morning sermon, entitled “After We Say “I Do’ – What’s Next?”, using Luke 5: 1-11 as scripture text.
Following the service, a fellowship dinner of BBQ and sides to celebrate the occasion was enjoyed by those in attendance.
Other guests who helped celebrate the occasion included Marty Graham from the United Christian Church (DOC) of Taylor, TX, Clarence Hodrick, Co-Pastor of United Christian Church (DOC) of Taylor, TX, and Dale Fowler, Director of Disciples Oaks Retreat Center in Gonzales, TX.
