Eagles March by Academy 7-3

by Mike Organ

Lexington captured their second district win, defeating Academy 7- 3 Friday night after a week’s moratorium for state testing. The Eagles used some good pitching by W.E. Meuth and some timely hitting by Meuth to put the Bees back in the hive.

Academy scored once in the top of the first inning. Lexington quickly answered with two in the bottom of the inning. Kogan Garrett walked with one out. Garrett moved to second on an infield ground out. W.E. Meuth smashed a double to score Garrett. Chase Hibbeler followed with another double to right field, scoring Meuth.

Lexington added another pair of runs in the fifth. Corey Strain led off with his second single of the night. Garrett followed with a single. W.E. singled home the first run. Chase Hibbeler launched a long fly ball to centerfield, allowing Garrett to tag up and score.

Lexington added three more runs in the sixth inning. Tyler Krenek laced a double to deep right centerfield. Walt Green followed with a looping single, sending Krenek to third. A balk by the Bee pitcher allowed both runners to advance unabated. Garrett doubled to send Green home and Logan Meuth followed with another double to score Garrett.
