Lee County Commissioners’ Court
At the Lee County Commissioners’ regular meeting held Monday, April 8, the Court, by transferring funds from the Right of Way account to the County Clerk Building, made funds available to proceed with plans for converting the building on East Industry to provide space to move the County Clerk’s Office and all related files. The Commissioners made changes to the contract submitted by Cutright, Allen Architects for this effort, primarily concerning setting an official budget amount of $150,000. for construction. After the wording changes were made, the Court gave approval to proceed with the initial drawings using the building committee’s proposed layout.
The Court also gave the County Judge authority to give permission for seismographic surveys on county-owned property. There are several, relatively small properties throughout the County that will be affected by the planned seismographic surveys. Having this authority vested in the Judge will expedite this process.
The Court also approved an Interlocal Agreement between Lubbock County and Lee County for a Regional Public Defender for Capital Cases. This will have the advantage of reducing the cost to the County in case a Public Defender is required in a Capital Case.
The Court also authorized the County Judge’s Office to pursue grant funding for first aid training and for defibrillators for one or more County Offices.
