Giants Beware by Jorge Aguirre is a story about Claudette, who wants nothing more than to slay a giant, but her little village is too safe and quiet. This book is written in graphic novel format.
Laugh with the Moon by Shana Burg (donated by the Hilton Lee Smith family) introduces us to Clare. She is grieving her mother’s recent death. She reluctantly travels with her father to Malawi where new friends help open her mind and heart.
Coral Reefs by Jason Chin (donated by the Hilton Lee Smith family) discusses coral reef ecology, islands and sea life. An ordinary trip to the library becomes an extraordinary trip to the depths of the coral reefs.
Ten Rules You Absolutely Must Not Break If You Want to Survive by John Grandits (donated by the Giddings Elementary School PTO) is about Kyle’s older brother who gives him rules for his bus ride after breaking them all. Kyle discovers a rule his brother forgot.
Tua and The Elephant by R. P. Harris (donated by the Giddings Elementary School PTO) is about Asiatic elephants. In Chiang Mai, Thailand, Tua releases an abused elephant, but can she get it to an elephant refuge without being caught?
Looking At Lincoln by Maira Kalman (donated by the Hilton Lee Smith family) gives a brief look at the life of United States President Abraham Lincoln.
Fairest of All by Sarah Mlynoski is a story about tenyear old Abby and her younger brother Jonah. They discover an antique mirror that transports them into the Snow White fairy tale.
