Lady Eagles Rap Rosebud-Lott

by Mike Organ

Lexington defeated Rosebud-Lott 12-2 Saturday afternoon behind the hitting of Tayllor Lagrone, and the two-hit pitching of Courtney Robertson. Lagrone had a home run, a double off the top of the fence, and a single in the contest.

Lexington took the lead in the bottom of the first and never looked back. Mackenzie Brown walked with one out, stole second, and went to third on a passed ball, as Courtney Robertson walked. Both runs scored on Meghann Wrinkle’s single. Lagrone then dropped her homer over the leftfield fence as the Lady Eagles took a 4-0 lead.

The next score came in the second inning. Melanie Scantlin reached on a fielder’s choice. She stole second base and scored on Bailey Reynolds’ ground out.

Six runs came in the third inning. Kristin Boettcher singled to lead off. Boettcher moved to second on a passed ball and scored on Robertson’s single. Robertson ended up at second on the play. She moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on Wrinkle’s sacrifice bunt. Madison Bexley singled in front of walks to Mariah Thornton and Scantlin. Reynolds then singled two runs home for an 11-1 lead.

The final run came in the fourth when Lagrone hit a line drive to the top of the outfield fence for a double. Bexley followed with an RBI single.

Robertson had trouble with her control early in the game, but settled down to strike out seven and give up only one hit. They are 5-2 in district action.
