Eagles top Rosebud-Lott 12-0

by Mike Organ

Lexington finally got that elusive first district win Saturday afternoon with a 12-0 defeat of the Rosebud-Lott Cougars. The Eagles had 10 hits in the victory.

The Eagles’ first two batters scored in the game. Logan Meuth led off with a single. Kogan Garrett followed with another single after Meuth had stolen second base for the first run. A passed ball gave Garrett second. Corey Strain reached on an error by the third baseman after a couple of walks to Derek Dane and W.E. Meuth. Tyler Krenek reached on a fielder’s choice, as Dane was forced at home. Jason Washington had a solid single up the middle to score two more runs.

The Eagles scored eight runs in the second inning, as the Eagles sent 14 batters to the plate. Logan led off with a single, Garrett got hit by a pitch, Dane walked, W.E. walked, Strain singled home a run, Krenek walked, and Washington got his second two-RBI single. Noble Little reached on a fielder’s choice. Logan got his second single of the inning to drive home a run. Garrett sent him home with a long double off the fence. Dane plated Garrett with a single. W.E. singled, but the Eagles could score no more, as Coach Dylan Conway held up runners in a sportsman gesture.

Jakob Moreland pitched a solid game, allowing three hits and striking out six in the Eagle win.
