Allen R. Belzel

May23,1942–March13,2013

Family Memorial services to be held in May.

Mr. Belzel passed away at the age of 70 on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 after a short battle with brain cancer.

Mr. Belzel was born on May 23, 1942 in The Bronx of NewYork City to John and Dorothy Belzel.

Al retired from the United States Air Force after 21 years of service. Al met his wife Gay Lynn while stationed in California. Mr. & Mrs. Belzel just celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary in January 2013. In 1979 after leaving the Air Force, Al worked as a United States Postal mail carrier and retired in 1997 as a station manager.

Al and Gay moved to Lexington, Texas and built a family farm, “Sandy Oaks Farm”, with 5 generations upon it, until the recent passing of great-great grandma Jennie.

Al was a volunteer EMT for the Lexington Community for several years. He was also an auctioneer for the Blue Fire Department. He was an avid Ancient coin collector and very knowledgeable on ancient coins and history, and belonged to several coin clubs.

Al loved his family, as well as working on his tractor while growing tomatoes on his farm.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy Belzel. He is survived by his wife Gay Lynn Belzel, his sons, Michael L. Belzel and Allen A. Belzel, his daughters, Kelly L. Prew and son-in–law Douglas G. Prew, daughter Kathey M. Langham and son-in-law Russell Langham; grandsons, Daniel Moore, William Langham; granddaughters, Jessica Belzel, Megan Langham, Mandie Prew, Kassie Prew, Julia Belzel, Rebecca Belzel, and greatgrandson Ryann Prew.

Memorials may be sent to Lexington EMS in Lexington, Texas.
