Sports Thoughts

by Mike Organ

Lexington had a bad “Eagle Week,” losing to both the Salado Eagles and the Rogers Eagles. Thank goodness there are no more Eagles in the district. With those out of the way, maybe the Lexington teams can concentrate on beating the rest of their district opponents.

Giddings’ Trey Masek had a good outing against UT, pitching for Texas Tech. He gave up his first run of the year. Scouts say he is one of the top 20 pro prospects in college baseball.

The Lexington track meet to be held this weekend has been run almost annually, since 1976. That is 38 years of some kind of track meet.

John Reat was the head timer for the first track meet 38 years ago, and former Texas All-American, Tommy Ford, was the starter.
