Marie was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at St. Mark's Medical Center in La Grange.
A funeral mass was celebrated by Father James Olnhausen on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Giddings with burial immediately following in the Giddings City Cemetery.
Marie had been a long time member of St. Margaret's Catholic Church and served as eucharistic minister for a number of years. She was also a member of the altar society and was awarded the 2012 Lumen Gentium Award for being a faithful servant to her church. She was also a member of American Legion Auxiliary York Post 276 in Giddings.
Marie took pride in her family and helped nuture many children through the years, including the Orsag children, Sharon, Glenda, Larry and Cindy. She enjoyed taking pride in working in her yard, visiting family and friends, and most of all spoiling many with her delicious cooking.
She worked hard for many years, including at Fairmont, Robert Lorenz Cafe, Highway Cafe and Mantzel Clinic. After helping raise the Orsag children, she had been employed by Orsag's Inc. for the past 46 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Maurillo; her parents; an infant brother, Theodore; her sister, Lupe Redkey; her brother, Genaro Muniz; nephew, Adrian Muniz and a great niece, Makayla Muniz.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Muniz Gutierrez of Giddings; granddaughters, Michelle Schuetz of Round Rock, Melanie Gutierrez of Giddings and Mary Elizabeth and Fritz Kieschnick of Lincoln; great grandchildren, Justin, Julia and Jenna Rae Kieschnick all of Lincoln and Cody and Alex Schuetz of Hutto; great, great grandson, Keagan Kieschnick of Lincoln; sisters, Kay and Al Chew of Giddings, Josie and Fred Kuntz of New Braunfels, Gloria and Ben Guajardo of Georgetown, Lorene and Norman Holman of Giddings, Frances and Fred Silgero of Pinehurst, Hope and Clyde Holman of Amarillo and Lena Barrera of Giddings; brothers, Louis Sr. and Andrea Muniz of Giddings and Howard and Theresa Muniz of Hempstead; brother-in-law, Malcolm Redkey of Austin and especially her beloved Orsag family, as well as numerous nephews, nieces and an array of many friends.
Serving as pallbearers were Justin Kieschnick, Cody Schuetz, Alex Schuetz, Larry Orsag, Jim Barker, Timothy Redkey, Ken Chew and Gary Spivey. Honorary pallbearers were Marie's fellow employees of Orsags, Inc.
