Leroy Calvin Exner
Funeral services for Leroy Exner, 79 of Giddings, were held 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Jeremy Walloch officiating. Burial followed in the Giddings City Cemetery.
Mr. Exner passed away the evening of Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin.
Leroy Calvin Exner was born on May 25, 1933 in Manheim, Texas to Samuel Otto & Theresa Marie (Noack) Exner. He was baptized at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Manheim by Rev. C.W. Rische and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Texas by Rev. A. Stroebel. His confirmation verse was Psalm 37:5 “Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass”. Leroy attended school at Ebenezer Lutheran School in Manheim and grew up working on the family farm. He began working in construction as a sheetrocker when he was 16 years old and continued in the profession for over 40 years. After retiring, he purchased his farm near Giddings where he enjoyed raising and taking care of his cattle. Leroy also enjoyed riding around with Abby, his little puppy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel & Theresa Exner; four sisters, Mary Exner, Elenor Exner, Lillie Glona and Ruby Lerche and two brothers, Herbert Exner and Theodore “Ted” Exner.
Leroy is survived by his three sisters, Clara Pecht of Houston, Irene Nittsche of Giddings and Amanda “Dolly” Price of Lincoln; sister-in-law, Esther Exner of Lincoln, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers were Chris Mitschke, Scott Mitschke, Paul Drosche, Roger Exner, Logan Lancaster and Steven Knobloch.
