Clarence Carl Wachsmann

Funeral services for Clarence Wachsmann, 85 of Manheim, were held Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Robert Tiner officiating. Burial followed in the Giddings City Cemetery.

Mr. Wachsmann passed away during the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin.

Clarence Carl Wachsmann was born on February 13, 1928 in Manheim, Texas to Herbert & Louise (Kurth) Wachsmann. He was baptized on February 24, 1928 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Manheim by Rev. C.W. Rische and confirmed on April 5, 1942 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church by Rev. E.J. Riske. His confirmation verse was Psalm 37:37 “Mark the blameless man, and observe the upright; For the future of that man is peace”. He attended school at Ebenezer Lutheran School and enjoyed playing softball and was well known for his pitching. Clarence was united in marriage to Joy Gerlach on November 21, 1948 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings by Rev. Max Studtmann. Their union was blessed with four sons, Glenn, Dennis “Mickey”, Larry & Jeff.

Clarence was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and served as a committee member of the Lee County ASC for over 30 years. He was a lifelong farmer and rancher and owned and operated Wachsmann Tire Company in Manheim since 1983. He enjoyed riding on his tractor while working on his farm where he raised cattle and hogs.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert & Louise Wachsmann; sister, Frances Cypert & her husband, Warren; two brothers, Edgar Wachsmann and Lawrence Wachsmann; sister-in-law, Mary Wachsmann and a brother-in-law, Leonard Williams.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joy Wachsmann of Manheim; four sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn & Betty Wachsmann of Manheim, Dennis “Mickey” & Pauline Wachsmann of Manheim, Larry & Carolyn Wachsmann of Manheim and Jeff & Sandi Wachsmann of Keller; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren, Bradley Wachsmann & his wife, Julie of Arlington and their daughters Emarie & Elissa, Lindsey Murray of Lubbock & her son, Cooper, Michael Wachsmann & his wife Nicki of Austin & their daughter, Lia, Kevin Wachsmann of Manheim, Stephanie Winkelmann & her husband Ryan of Burton & their children, Dalton & Mallory, Randy Wachsmann of Manheim, Ashlie Wachsmann and Cameron Wachsmann of Keller; two sisters, Florence Williams of Houston and Ruth Jatzlau & her husband, Clarence of Giddings; three brothers, Milton Wachsmann & his wife, Ruby of Lincoln, Marvin Wachsmann & his wife, Jeanette of Tomball and Leroy Wachsmann & his wife, Mildred of Manheim, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Serving as pallbearers were Bradley Wachsmann, Ryan Winkelmann, Kevin Wachsmann, Randy Wachsmann, Michael Wachsmann and Cameron Wachsmann. Honorary pallbearers were Leon Westfall, Dave Dibbles, Max Ebner, John Schoenemann, Charles Schulz, Joe Orts and Ed Kieschnick.
