Sports Thoughts

by Mike Organ

The Lady Eagles are off to a good start in district play. This week’s games with Salado and Rogers will tell a lot about the Lady Eagles.

The Eagles pitching better start hitting the bull’s eye if Lexington is going to stand a chance. This district is loaded with good baseball teams, like last year’s state champion, Jarrell, and this year’s #1 team, Salado.

The Longhorns are just about to fall flat on their faces in the spring. Both men and women’s basketball teams are not going to play in the post season. Augie’s baseball team will finish out of the money in the conference.

The Lexington track team is short of runners. Only a handful of athletes are participating in track. This is one of a few international sports in which Lexington athletes typically don’t participate in large numbers.
