Laura Agnes Mittasch
Funeral services for Laura Mittasch, 89 of Giddings, were held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Robert Tiner officiating. Burial immediately followed in the Giddings Memorial Park.
Mrs. Mittasch passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at the Medstar Care Center in Giddings.
Laura Agnes Siegmund Mittasch was born on May 25, 1923 in Lincoln, Texas to Charles A. & Lydia (Sander) Siegmund. She was baptized on June 3, 1923 and confirmed on March 21, 1937 at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln by Rev. Reinhard Osthoff. Her confirmation verse was Revelation 2:10 “Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life”. Laura was united in marriage to Herbert Ben Mittasch on January 30, 1949 at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln by Rev. H.A. Stroebel. Herbert and Laura enjoyed ranching on their farm in Giddings where she also raised chickens and sold eggs. Laura was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings and enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, canning and her flowers.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Charles & Lydia Siegmund; her husband of 48 years, Herbert; an infant brother; two sisters, Hattie Kieschnick and Mary Wachsmann & her husband, Lawrence; niece, Denise Durio Morgan; two nephews, Milton Kieschnick and James Mittasch; two brothers-in-law, Alton Namken and Herman Mittasch & his wife, Ruth and two sisters-inlaw, Junelle Mittasch and Elsie Mittasch.
She is survived by her sister, Irma Durio & her husband, Robert of Port Arthur; three brothers-inlaw, Ed Kieschnick of Manheim, Willie Mittasch of Giddings and Johnny Mittasch of Houston; sister-in-law, Esther Namken of Giddings, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
