Jeannette Wilhite was born on May 29, 1938 in Houston, Texas to Miller & Rebecca (McRee) Wilhite. She had been employed as a legal secretary in Houston for several years. Jeannette was also a professional dog handler and had participated in dog shows since the 1960’s. She was a fierce competitor and will be missed in the dog show circuit. Jeannette was a “mother” to a large number of people and took care of everyone.
She died unexpectedly the afternoon of Friday, March 8, 2013 at her home near Lexington at the age 74.
Jeannette was preceded in death by her parents, Miller Wilhite and Rebecca Riley; brother, Eugene “Gene” Wilhite; step-father, Johnny Riley and three nieces, Lauren Rumfield, Katherine James and Deborah Norris.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Pitts of Lexington; her cousins who were close to her, Julie Shannon, Carol Doerge, Gary Doerge and Dennis Doerge, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Family graveside services will be held at the Lexington Cemetery in Lexington.
