Sports Thoughts

by Mike Organ

The Eagles are moving in the right direction in baseball. The hitting is starting to come around and Coach Conway is finding a few arms to help out on the mound.

The Lady Eagles figure to be in the hunt for a playoff spot. They must play consistently and cut down on the errors, both mental and physical.

The Longhorns are just figuring out that they may not have the personnel to run the hurry-up offense that Coach Mack has decreed. You need a very good offensive line and a quick-thinking quarterback to make it work. I don’t think they have either.

While on the Longhorns, in 2008 they had the 15th best recruiting class in the nation. Of all their signees, only six played four years for the Horns. Are the Horns developing talent or destroying it? Lack of character was the main culprit, with injuries coming in second.

The Aggies are going to use some young receivers in their offense. I hope they can find a “Swope” in the crowd. Johnny Football is going to have an experienced offense to work with; it’s whether or not the defense can stop the other team that will be the question this fall.
