Lexington Police Report
February 20, 2013
Officer Sandoval observed a suspicious person at the CEFCO Store. After an investigation, it was found the subject was having a reaction to prescription medication, which caused drowsiness. A family member was contacted and the subject was released to the custody of a family member.
February 21, 2013
Officer Nurse, while on patrol, observed a subject at a local store who was known to have a warrant out of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. The subject was identified as Colby Engelmann, who was wanted for two outstanding warrants. Engelmann had a Probation Violation Warrant out of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office for Enticing a Child, and a Possession of Miscellaneous Controlled Substance Warrant out of the Giddings Police Department. Engelmann was arrested and transported to the Lee County Jail, where he was booked.
February 22, 2013
Officer Nurse was dispatched to Hwy 77 North in reference to a reckless driver. Officer Nurse checked the area, but was unable to locate the vehicle.
Officer Vivas met with a complainant at the Police Department, who informed Officer Vivas of an unsecured door next to the senior citizens building on 3rd St. Officer Vivas checked the building and found nothing out of place. Officer Vivas secured the door to the best of his ability with no further problems occurring at this location.
Officer Vivas assisted the Lee County Sheriff ’s Office in attempting to locate a driver, who was possibly involved in an accident on FM 696. The driver was located at 104 East Ave. E, and the Lee County Sheriff’s Deputy continued with his investigation.
February 23, 2013
Officer Sandoval assisted the Lee County Sheriff’s Office with a warrant service at the Colbywood Apts. After several attempts to make contact with the subject, no contact was made at this time.
Officer Sandoval assisted DPS and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office with a motor vehicle accident on Hwy 21 one mile West of Hwy 77. Officer Sandoval conducted traffic control. The accident was investigated by DPS, and Officer Sandoval was released from the scene to resume his patrol duties in the City of Lexington.

Officer Sandoval made another attempted warrant service at the Colbywood Apartments. The subject was not located at this time.
February 25, 2013
Officer Sandoval was dispatched to an alarm call at the Peterson Grocery Store. Officer Sandoval checked all windows and doors and found the building to be secure.
Officer Sandoval received a call about dogs left in a cage at the Auction barn. Arrangements were made for the dogs and they were removed from the cage.
Officer Sandoval was dispatched to an alarm call at the Dollar General Store. Officer Sandoval made contact with a new employee, who entered the wrong pass code.
Officer Sandoval was advised there were three subjects going around knocking on doors. Officer Sandoval located the subjects, who were Dish Network employees soliciting new customers. The subjects were advised they needed to contact City Hall to obtain permits before going house to house soliciting business.

Officer Sandoval received a call from a subject in reference to a downed line from a utility pole. A city worker was located and informed about the line being down. The line was repaired.
Officer Sandoval was dispatched to an alarm call at the Country Time Salon. Officer Sandoval checked the building and the building was secure. The owner was contacted informed of the alarm call.
February 27, 2013
Chief Yarbrough was dispatched to the Dollar General Store in reference to a theft. Chief Yarbrough made contact with the subjects suspected of shoplifting, and detained them at the scene. The subject involved in the theft was identified as Rebecca Vargas. Vargas was issued a citation for theft under $50 and released at the scene. Vargas and her boyfriend were issued a Criminal Trespass Warning from the Dollar General Store.
Officer Nurse arrived at the Dollar General Store to have a Criminal Trespass Warning signed by the manager, which was issued to Rebecca Vargas for the previous theft.
Officer Nurse was dispatched to the area of 6th and Rockdale in reference to dogs barking. Officer Nurse canvassed the area, but was unable to locate the dogs barking.
March 1, 2013
Chief Yarbrough was dispatched to the 500 block of Ave. B in reference to a dog bite. Gerome Hess was the owner of the dog, and was at work at the time his dog managed to get out of the dog pen. According to the neighbor who was attacked, the dog came into his yard and began barking at him while he was working in his garden. Shortly after, the dog bit the neighbor on the lower left portion of his leg and ran back into his yard. Hess was contacted and advised of the situation. Hess was issued citations for Dog at Large and No Proof of Vaccination.
Officer Nurse was dispatched to a two-vehicle, no injury, accident in the 9100 block of North Hwy 77. The accident was caused by Michael Jackson failing to yield the Right of Way. Jackson was then issued a citation for Failure to Yield Right of Way, and blue forms were issued to both occupants to file with their insurance companies.
