Two Arrested for Stealing A/C Units
On Sunday, March 3, at about 8:10 p.m., Sgt. Lacey Carvin and Officer John Yoder, with the Giddings Police Department, responded to a theft in progress report at Air Conditioning and Electrical, located at 384 E. Industry. The caller making the report advised that two subjects were stealing air conditioning units that were located behind the business.
The officers arrived and were able to intercept a white 1990 Ford truck towing a flatbed trailer as it was leaving the scene. The trailer was loaded with four air conditioning units that were taken from the business.
Earnest Morris, 55 of Austin, and Yvonne Ojeda, 47 of Giddings, were arrested for theft, $1,500- $20,000, which is a state felony that, if convicted, carries jail time. Morris and Ojeda were transported to the Lee County Law Enforcement Center, where they were booked in and jailed.
The property was returned to the owner of the A/C business.
