Electric Bills are Higher
The City has received several complaints this month about residents’ electric bills being considerably higher. One reason is that the current meter readings had six more days of usage on them than usual, since the previous month’s bill had six less days due to the Christmas holiday schedule.
A second reason is the weather. The current bills reflect electricity usage that increased due to colder weather. For instance, from Dec. 20 to Jan. 26, there were 11 days where the temperature was 20-29 degrees, compared to four days the month before, and there were 16 days 30-39 degrees, compared to six days the month before.
That adds up to higher electric bills.
