Eagles Fall to Navasota 9-4

by Mike Organ

Lexington lost its season opener 9-4 to the Navasota Rattlers. Lexington spotted the Rattlers four runs in the first two innings before they could get on the board with a run in the home half of the third. Navasota posted two more in the fourth, a run in the fifth, and two more in the top of the seventh. Lexington struck for three runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Lexington’s first run came as Jakob Moreland reached on an error. Kogan Garrett reached on a fielder’s choice. Kevin Letbetter reached on a bad throw. Derek Dane then got the run home, as he hit a scorcher the third baseman could not handle.

The three Eagle runs in the sixth came partly as a gift and partly earned. Walks to Noble Little, Sage Fields, and Moreland filled up the parking lot. Little scored on a wild pitch as both runners moved up. Letbetter doubled home a run and Logan Meuth sacrificed the third run home.

Garrett was the starting pitcher and received the loss. He was followed to the mound by Logan Meuth.
